Description of Modalities:
Swedish massage –
Swedish massage is generally considered a “spa” type of massage. It is
defined as a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques
on the more superficial layers of the muscles,
combined with active and passive movements of the joints. This type of
massage allows for general
relaxation, increases blood flow to increase oxygen and eliminate
toxins in the muscles, lowers blood
pressure, and assists in pain management.
Deep Tissue Massage –
Deep Tissue Massage is a technique that releases chronic patterns of tension
in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across
the fibers of muscles, tendons, and fascia. Deep tissue massage allows for increased mobility, the release
of chronic tension patterns, and muscle loosening.
CranioSacral Therapy –
This light-touch form of bodywork encourages the body’s natural healing
mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of
stress, and enhance health and resistance to disease. The therapist uses techniques to assist the natural
movement of fluid within the craniosacral system.
Hot Stone Massage –
Hot Stone is a massage technique, used in conjunction with other
modalities, in which warmed stones are placed on acupuncture points as
well as used as massage tools. Hot Stone massage increases relaxation,
eases muscle tension, improves circulation, and calms the psyche. It is my wish to provide quality therapeutic massage and bodywork for my clients
and to provide healing space, energy, and intention.
